BELIZE WORM FARMS AND F.A.O. HELP!

* Paula the Cuban organic specialist on a UN FAO contract to the government of Belize is at Central Farm and she has already had an extension of six months. This setup is a demonstration and teaching area for incoming groups, on how to make humus for vegetable farming from using worms. They have built three long troughs.
Worm farms are becoming more and more popular around Belize as the clay soils in Belize are not good for vegetables. What I have learned from Paula is that you mix up some compost and ordinary soil in layers, keep them dark and let the worms eat their way around. Their feces is black humus, which is supposed to be richer than fertilizer by 6 or 7 times. You stick some humus in each plant hole when you transplant.
