* Cedric and Solene
This French couple came to Guatemala in a flight and are doing a grand circuit tour of Guatemala and Belize and then back to France. They are staying at Falconview Backpackers Adventure Hostel and traveling on $25 a day for a couple. Which cut out any adventure tours. They are however from the wine district of Burgundy in France and like hiking. So they chilled out early in the day, in the hammocks, shopping for food, and reading. Then the next day they took the bus to Georgeville and hiked and hitched with their thumbs out and got to Barton Creek Cave Outpost, among the horse and buggy farmer Mennonites and some survivalists and spent an hour talking at the lodge with the young couple there and swimming in the swimming hole, which is a big deep hole as Barton creek exits the cave, hits the steep hillside cliff and changes direction. The Lodge has a rope tied to a tree on the cliff side and you can swing out and drop into the pool like TARZAN. Nice way to spend a day. Then they hitch hiked and got a bus back to Santa Elena Town, and our Falconview Hostel up in Hillview in the Green Parrot Valley suburb. From there they are contemplating going to either Caye Caulker, or Tobacco Caye and then via Punta Gorda and water taxi to Livingston, Guatemala and return. They already did Antigua, Lake Atitlan, Panachjel and Lanquin and Coban in Guatemala. I recommended they stay at Tina's Backpackers Beach Hostel on Caye Caulker and splurge a little, and not miss the HOL CHAN Channel snorkeling trip by boat on the Great Barrier Reef. This is a marine reserve and has simply thousands of different kinds of fish.
