BLAME THE PORT CITY POLITICIANS FOR THE SAD STATE OF FINANCES IN BELIZE!

There is revenue and there is revenue, that is actually really there in CASH MONEY, to run the country of Belize.  The latter, CASH MONEY REVENUE approximates only $300 million Bz a year.  Or $150 million USA currency.  Belize probably makes close to a billion a year in tax revenues, but most of it is compromised with police and teacher salaries, civil servants and pensions, etc., different kinds of debt that we owe and must make installment payments including interest costs.  Past governments have practised the debt financing policy of spending future tax revenues before you get them.  The real money available, for new projects and infra-structure is about ONLY $50 MILLION BZ. A YEAR.  This is disguised by a government borrowing system type of rollover financing; in which we always stay in debt and continue to spend tax revenues that have not been collected yet, for years ahead. " About as stupid a way to run a country as you can get."  But then the major controllers of policy still are in the one port town, that used to be the old capital and they believe in borrow, borrow, borrow, borrow!  GIMMEE DOLLAR!  Belize is only poor because port city politicians control the political parties and thus the treasury and our debts.
