THERE IS MORE THAN ONE WAY TO STEAL AN ELECTION IN BELIZE

PRIOR TO THE LAST ELECTION FOUR YEARS AGO, WE WERE TRYING TO GET THE ELECTIONS AND BOUNDARIES COMMISSION, TO EVEN UP THE REPRESENTATIVE SEATS. WE ASKED FOR MINIMUM OF 3000 PERSONS PER REPRESENTATIVE. THIS ELECTION FOUR YEARS LATER UNDER THE UDP, PRIOR TO THE ELECTION AGAIN, BACK IN THE FALL OF 2011, WE ASKED THAT THE NUMBERS OF PERSONS IN A CONSTITUENCY BE CORRECTED. BELIZE CITY HAS ALWAYS BEEN CROOKED ABOUT THIS, BOTH UNDER THE PUP AND UDP. THIS ELECTION WAS STOLEN BY THE PORT OF BELIZE CITY CROOKS. US RURAL DWELLERS ARE JUST NOT GETTING A FAIR SHAKE IN BELIZE.



The OAS had nothing to say, about how this election was stolen, even though they observed. Read the following comments and judge for yourself. The criminal who did this, runs the Elections and Boundaries Commission and has the STAR newspaper in the Twin Towns. Forget his name! He is a UDP gang member. Aaaaah! Been racking my brains, the name of this; in my opinion criminal, in charge of the Elections and Boundaries Commission is Alberto August.
Alberto August, UDP gang member in charge of the Elections boundaries. He deliberately failed to do his job with integrity and honesty in my opinion. The other election before, it was the PUP that arranged it. This time for this election it was the UDP arranged, that the port of Belize City would dominate in governing, as a minority group, over the majority of Belizeans living in the rural out district populations. Just my opinion! Albert is a casual friend, but in this he disappoints me. There should have been redistricting done last FALL, when people called for it. With a growing popùlation each constituency should be a minimum of 5500 persons. Maybe more in the next five year election?

The Belize City electoral divisions of Pickstock, Fort George, Mesopotamia and Queens Square all have 3000-odd registered voters. Again, in Belize City, Collett, Freetown and Port Loyola have 4000-odd voters. Each one of those divisions gets a seat.

On the other hand, Belize Rural South (which includes Ambergris Caye), Belmopan, Cayo Central, Orange Walk North and Stann Creek West all have well over 7000 registered voters and each one gets just one seat as well.

Clearly it is time to re-think the Belize City distribution of seats. Belize City should really only have a maximum of 7 or 8 seats instead of the present 10 with the lost seats being added by redistricting in the rural areas. In the 2012 elections the proper spread should have been 1 seat for about every 5750 registered voters. (Country wide there were 178,054 registered voters and 31 seats to contest).

It is worth noting that Belize City voted 8 divisions to 2 in favour of the incumbent UDP government whereas the outer districts were shaded by the PUP opposition. With proper redistricting the overall General Election result might not have been all that different but at least everyone would have had the same influence per vote cast.
