SNOOTY ACADEMIC ADMINISTRATORS, STRANGLE POTENTIAL OF UNIVERSITY FUNCTIONS.  PEER REVIEW CALLS FOR RE-STRUCTURING OF UNIVERSITY OF BELIZE, TO BE DOWN GRADED TO A COMMUNITY COLLEGE.

Please understand that I in no way wish to impune the staff and faculty of the institution as I am sure that there are many good, hard working members, but one must look at the the overall picture.

I found the graduation roster for this last week and went through manually, so give me a little + -  on the actual count but basically there were: 23 Diplomas, 67 Certificates, 188 Associate degrees, and 192 Bachelors (what percentage of this coursework was: a, by online courses anf b, transferable to other accredited institutions?) . This does not a University make, basically it constitutes a College. Now I understand the need of a country to front the good feeling of promoting a national institution of higher education, but when resources are limited, reality must prevail. Roughly 59% of the conferred credentials were at a level of associate degree or lower for which a Community College would suffice; the model for which is much less costly than a university. The Community College   model is also more akin to what Alavaro references in his BELCAST comments. For the BS level programs, a series of colleges of XX  would work very well, also at less expense per credit hour granted.

  SOLAR PANEL ASSEMBLY RESEARCH REQUESTS, MET WITH SILENCE FROM ADMINISTRATORS, AND IGNORED BY UNIVERSITY.  NO RESEARCH and development  CAPABILITY LEADERSHIP THERE.

  NO EFFORTS BY UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATION TO SEEK FINANCIAL DONATIONS FROM SPANISH LOOKOUT AND BLUE CREEK INDUSTRIAL PRIVATE SECTORS, TO FINANCE DEPARTMENTS AND CHAIRS WITH LECTURERS IN DEVELOPMENT LIGHT MANUFACTURING RESEARCH EXPERIMENTS.

  OFFERS BY GOVERNMENT OF INDIA AND INDIAN EMBASSY IN MEXICO CITY,  TO FINANCE TEACHERS OF INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT TECHNOLOGY, TOTALLY IGNORED BY UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATION.  EVEN WHEN SOMEBODY IS GOING TO PAY FOR NEW DEPARTMENTS, THE UNIVERSITY OF BELIZE ADMINISTRATION CANNOT MAKE THE NECESSARY REQUESTS AND MOVES.

 UNIVERSITY OF BELIZE continues to be a waste of government tax revenue money, producing theoretical book learning, for exporting our young people abroad to industrial nations, for low level corporate jobs abroad in the pencil pusher category.  University is producing CLERKS.

  TIME FOR RESTRUCTURING THE UNIVERSITY OF BELIZE ONCE AGAIN !
