UN FAO money supplies chickens to small farmers in Belize

FAO supplies chickens for small rural farmers to start a poultry business.

UN FAO SUPPLIES FUNDS TO HELP RURAL SMALL FARMERS GET STARTED IN THE POULTRY BUSINESS

A number of farmers in Western Belize received live produce of chickens, feed supply and other materials to help them get started in the poultry business. Hon. Rene Montero, Minister of Agriculture did the honors. Seeds had already been given out under this program after the floods last year. The idea is to give a boost to local production of foods. Belize is at the end of Hurricane Alley and periodically gets hit by hurricanes, river floods and the odd earthquake in a more minor manner. Other than that it is a great place to live in a mild tropical climate.
