Isn't that a question that Bze needs to put directly on the table of the Consulate/Ambassador? As I recall at the time CAFTA was being formed Bze was relishing being a member of CARICOM, which probably forestalled any invite! It was said then that Bze needed to get on its knees and beg to get in.

I am not sold entirely on CAFTA, but it would have behooved Bze to try to jump in, which they did not. The very issues that Ray still keeps beating on, "light manufacturing" would/could be much embellished under their programs, but nuh wahn mess wit dat! How much have US companies invested in both the manufacturing and service sectors in Mexico, China, & elsewhere.

If you will recall, the concept of "small business incubators" enmeshed in the then post secondary/technical ed system was pushed on this list by me and others. Instead the GOB moved toward a university system that basically has not done anything to promote and/or develop basic industry. Pie in the sky thinking when what was needed was a Community College model; just another failed experiment! Give me a figure of UB's budget for the last five yewars and the total number of university graduates (BS plus degrees); I would bet that the cost per completer would have allowed each graduate to attend a world class institution on scholarship; dig it up and show it. What is the average cost per graduate over the last 5 years?

Come on, short sighted planning, no long term strategic planning and then surprised and astounded by failing outcomes, give me a break!
