Independence day on the frontier remote border with Guatemala in Belize.
Border patrol during the Independence Day celebration, confirmed by the United Nations charter and vote. This group did the long rugged hike to a remote border area, facing a village across on the Guatemalan side, one village of many which is a source of Guatemalan bandits, and poachers, raiding the Western forest reserves of our resources. For five years now, the civilian Belizean population of the Toledo District has shown the flag and sang patriotic songs, in a remote rural area of the border, which has no government military, police, or any other presence for this thinly populated country.
