TRAINING FOR AGRICULTURE EXTENSION OFFICERS

The Ministry of Agriculture is conducting a one week Training entitled “Extension Methodology” at the University of Belize Campus in Central Farm. Roberto Harrison is the Director of Extension in the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries.

“The Department of Agriculture is conducting a one-week training for some 38 extension officers from the agriculture cooperative and fisheries department. The objective of the workshop is to provide knowledge and skills to the extension officers on how to better communicate with the farming community at large. Dr Wayne Ganpat is a seasoned extension officer from the University of the West Indies and he is imparting that knowledge to the extension officers at this end here. This is an initiative being sponsored by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.”
The Seminar commenced yesterday and is scheduled to end on Friday. Those attending the training include officers from the Agriculture and Cooperative Department as well as officers from other partner agencies.
