PRIME MINISTER OF BELIZE APPOINTS MENNONITE FROM BLUE CREEK TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF BELIZE MARKETING BOARD INSTITUTION.

BELIZE MARKETING BOARD A QUASI INDEPENDENT GOVERNMENT RUN ENTITY IS RUN INEFFICIENTLY

Investigations indicate an overproduction of rice in Belize and currently there are no export capabilities. Mennonite rice farmers of Blue Creek community claim that the Belize Marketing Board are doing illegal things, but the Prime Minister denies that. He says, it is just incompetence, or words to that effect. The Board of directors of the Belize Marketing Board have not been meeting either. He is appointing a Mennonite representative to the BOÄRD OF DIRECTORS of the Belize Marketing Board, to try and settle the conflicts in this hot button problematic issue on the national scene.

OVERPRODUCTION of rice does not yet have any EXPORT capability. The Mennonite producers complain of taxation as being the biggest problem, making their commercial rice production uncompetitive in the outside world. I don´t see them making SAKI, or rice wine, for export to Japan. Or rice paper, etc. So the private rice growers, may not be exploring all the advantages they have with their capability to produce excess rice in the local small market.
