BELIZE TO GET FINANCIAL CENTER - SINGAPORE WATCH OUT!

Trading internationally from Belize

PILOT PROJECT FOR SWISS BRANCH OFFICE OF A TRADING CENTER BEING NEGOTIATED.

Trading commodities, futures, pork bellies, currencies, stocks, options, etc. A pilot project of two floor traders and one supervisor is being contemplated and explored by investment capital with local partners. Local office space already lined up, and the main problem is getting DSL internet service for what is an internet based financial service. Sort of like International phone call centers.

To be located on the outskirts of the twin towns, what is lacking is direct line telephone service and DSL internet connections. Planned for October, but probably will go in November or December, it will be the first of it's kind in Belize. Office renovations underway as I speak. Expansion will depend on success, said spokesperson, Ms. Figueroa.

The last time such a thing was tried in Belize was done on Caye Caulker in 1994 about 15 years ago. The operation closed down due to lack of telecommunications infra-structure reliability. The operation was transferred to Florida.
